Description
Nebivolol + Valsartan
Description: This product is a combination medication that contains two active ingredients: Nebivolol and Valsartan. Nebivolol is a beta-blocker, and Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). The combination works synergistically to lower blood pressure.
Indication: It is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure). The combination is used when treatment with a single drug is not sufficient to control blood pressure.
Mechanism of Action:
- Nebivolol: It is a highly selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It blocks the effects of adrenaline on the heart, leading to a decrease in heart rate and contractility, which reduces blood pressure. It also has a unique mechanism of action that promotes vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) by stimulating the release of nitric oxide.
- Valsartan: It works by blocking the angiotensin II receptor. Angiotensin II is a powerful vasoconstrictor (narrows blood vessels) and also stimulates the release of aldosterone, which causes the body to retain sodium and water. By blocking its effects, Valsartan causes blood vessels to relax and widen, leading to a decrease in blood pressure.
