Description
Lignowin 2%
Description
Lignowin 2% contains the active ingredient Lidocaine (also known as Lignocaine). It is a local anesthetic used to numb a specific area of the body. It can come in various forms such as an injection or a gel. As an injection, it’s a sterile solution, while as a gel, it’s a viscous substance often used as a lubricant for medical procedures.
Indication
Lignowin 2% is primarily indicated for:
- Local Anesthesia: To numb a specific area of the body before minor surgical, dental, or diagnostic procedures.
- Ventricular Arrhythmia: As a Class Ib antiarrhythmic agent to treat irregular heart rhythms, particularly after a heart attack.
- Pain and Discomfort Relief: When in gel or topical form, it’s used to relieve pain and discomfort from conditions like skin irritation, burns, insect bites, or in procedures such as catheterization or intubation.
Mechanism of Action
Lidocaine, the active ingredient in Lignowin 2%, is an amide-type local anesthetic. Its mechanism of action involves:
- Blocking Sodium Channels: It works by blocking the voltage-gated sodium channels in the membranes of nerve cells.
- Inhibiting Nerve Impulses: By blocking these channels, it prevents the influx of sodium ions, which is essential for the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses.
- Preventing Pain Signals: This action stabilizes the neuronal membrane, preventing the nerve from firing and sending pain signals to the brain, which results in temporary numbness and pain relief in the affected area.
