Midiven Care 0.1 % Cream (also known as Mediven Cream) is a topical medication containing the active ingredient betamethasone valerate. It is a medium-strength corticosteroid. It is a cream intended for external use only.
Indication
This cream is used to treat a variety of inflammatory skin conditions, including:
- Eczema (atopic dermatitis)
- Psoriasis (dry, scaly patches on the skin)
- Other forms of dermatitis
- Skin irritation, redness, and itching caused by allergies or other conditions.
Mechanism of Action
The active ingredient, betamethasone valerate, is a synthetic glucocorticoid. Its mechanism of action involves:
- Binding to cytoplasmic receptors: It binds to specific receptors within the cells of the skin.
- Inhibition of inflammatory mediators: This binding action suppresses the release of certain chemicals in the body, such as prostaglandins, that are responsible for causing inflammation, swelling, redness, and itching.
