Description
Paramine
Description: Paramine is a combination of three active ingredients:
- Paracetamol (Acetaminophen): A mild analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer).
- Phenylephrine: A decongestant.
- Chlorpheniramine: An antihistamine (anti-allergic drug).
Indication: Paramine is used to provide relief from symptoms associated with the common cold and allergies, including:
- Fever and headache
- Body aches
- Nasal congestion, stuffy/runny nose
- Sneezing
- Watery eyes
- Sinus headaches
Mechanism of Action: The combined action of the three ingredients provides comprehensive relief:
- Paracetamol: Works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins in the brain, which are chemical messengers responsible for causing pain and fever.
- Phenylephrine: Acts as a decongestant by shrinking the blood vessels in the nasal passages, which reduces congestion and excess mucus production.
- Chlorpheniramine: A first-generation antihistamine that works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance released by the body during allergic reactions. This helps to alleviate symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.
